As a new but undeniably enthusiastic devotee of swing, I make my way to the dance floor at the Pasadena Masonic Temple every Thursday for Lindy Groove. Here the dancing is truly social: gentlemen ask, ladies say yes, and you muddle along the best you can until the song comes to a close and you start all over again. Ages and skill levels range from fresh to seasoned, which is one of the reasons it's a rolicking good time for all.
Last week Lindy Groove took on Cinco de Mayo flair with an old fashioned soda fountain serving dulce de leche ice cream floats. More than ever, ladies sported a veritable garden of flowers in their hair. Women and flowers are two of the most beautiful things in the world- put them together and I'm a smitten kitten. There's a long history between babes and begonias, but here are a few of my favorites:
Billie Holiday rarely performed without magnolias in her coiffe.
The only thing Rockabilly girls love more than a man in a black leather jacket
is Ms Bettie Page and her clip-in bosoms, I mean blossoms.
Frida Kahlo with her signature flowers.
Naughty-but-nice Drew Barrymore with oh-so-90's daisies.
This wide array of ladies shows that flowers in your hair are not just for when you're going to San Francisco, there's a bud for every type of occasion and every type of woman.
Fresh flowers are tougher to keep intact, but they feel etherial and/or Woodstock-esque depending on where you are and what you're wearing them with. Fabric or plastic hair flowers (like this one from DeeDees Boutique) are a nice alternative, and really the only option when spinning across a lindy dance floor. Secure with two crossing bobby pins, show off your pearly whites, and prepare to kick your heels up in style.

I absolutely love wearing flowers in my hair. There is something super romantic about it, and my passion has turned into a hobby that I adore! I love helping women feel and look...well.. IRRESISTIBLE! :)
